Balpyk bi, mausoleum
Located on the Ushtobe - Kalpe highway behind the village of Oyan (Karatal district, Almaty region).
Balpyk bi Derbisaliuly (1705-1780) - Kazakh batyr, bi, participant of fight of Kazakhs against Jongar invasion in XVIII century. Came from a family of Andas of a tribe Zhalaiyr of the Senior Juz. The ancestor of Balpyk Derbisaliuly was a descendant of Kalki-ata - Duisenbi - Derbisali. Balpyk bi was an associate of Eskeldy - another prominent bi and commander of the tribe of Zhalaiyrs.
Since the 17th century, the bloody war between Kazakhs and Dzungars, who ruined the Kazakh nomads, exterminated the civilian population and pushed them to less favorable territories, continued. After the Battle of Anyrakai, the main forces of jungars persecuted by the great Kazakh generals - the khan of the Junior Zhuz Abylkhair, Karakerey Kabanbai, Kanzhygaly Bogenbai, Shapyrashty Nauryzbai, Zhanys Otegen and Alban Raiymbek, retreated to the areas of the rivers Ile, Koksu, Karatal, Lake Balkhash. Balpyk bi together with Eskeldy bi, Orak Batyr headed the Zhalaiyrs during the migration from the banks of the Syr Darya and Shu rivers to the liberated lands of Zhetysu, where they had to fight with separate detachments of Dzungars. Kabylisa akyn, revered by the famous akyn Suyunbay as a teacher, encouraged soldiers to do martial deeds.
Initially, a small mausoleum on the Balpyk Bi's tomb was erected from clay, and then brick was used as material for the following five buildings. Information related to the burial site of Balpyk Bi has been preserved. According to the curator (shyrakshy) of the mausoleum of Balpyk Bi Amangeldy Ongarov, in the 1920s-1930s during the construction of the Turkestan-Siberian railway the issue of demolition of the grave of Balpyk Bi has arisen. Then the curator Akhmetshe Kurmanbekov petitioned the engineer of Turksib section construction to move the railway branch away from the Kazakh saint's grave. The engineer listened to the curator's arguments and sent a petition to the Turksib Construction Department, and soon the plans for the construction of the road section were corrected. Currently, the railway line runs approximately 100-150 m from the mausoleum.
The grand opening of the Balpyk Bi Mausoleum took place on September 16, 1994 during the republican festivities in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Batyr. Construction of the mausoleum was led by K. Akylbaev and S. Sagatbekov. The mausoleum belongs to the traditional Central Asian portal-dome type, has a central dome and two additional smaller domes painted in celestial blue. The outer facade of the building was lined with marble, but due to the depreciation of the land during the trains, it gradually collapsed. The inner walls of the mausoleum also have marble cladding. Local materials were used in its construction. Marble was brought from the quarry of the b. state farm "New World", the tombstone of black granite was lowered from the mountains near Saryozek, and the material for the improvement of the complex was broughtfrom there.
Marble steps lead to the mausoleum, and right behind the cast-iron openwork door there is a hall where Balpyk Bi's burial place is located. This is evidenced by the inscription on a large granite stone: "Here lies an aulie, bi, batyr Balyk Daripsalyuly (1694-1782). The dates of Balpyk Bi's life on the stone are erroneously indicated, because according to historical data he lived in 1705-1780. At an entrance in a mausoleum of Sacred Balpyk Bi the plate in the form of the expanded book with words of a prayer in the Kazakh and Arabian languages is established. With the assistance of the district and village akimats, the mausoleum was overhauled in 2007 with funds from the local community. A canopy with tables and benches for memorial dinners was set up for visitors, and next to it installed an oven with a built-in cauldron for cooking memorial dishes.
Balpyk Bi Mausoleum is a monument of history and architecture of republican importance, its sacredness is connected with the role played by Balpyk Bi in the reflection of Dzungar aggression, relocation of Zhalaiyrs to Zhetysu. The burial place of Balpyk Bi, who bequeathed to bury him two versts below the tomb of Eskeldy, is a place of pilgrimage and religious tourism.
