Excavations of the Shulbinka Paleolithic site

The detachment of the Shulba expedition of the Institute of History, Archeology, and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR continued excavations of the Shulbinka Paleolithic site. Excavated 692 sq. and found the remains of hearths.

The collection is dominated by the one-sided, end and wedge-shaped cores, end-scrapers, and end-and-side end-scrapers on blade sections and flakes. Among the tools, there are oblong knives, pointed scrapers, choppings, chippers made of pebbles and prismatic knives with longitudinal side edges machined. Quite often, the same processing was presented by the remaining edges, resulting in which two-sided processed forms arose. Several anvils were found - flat tiles with a vulnerable pothole. The raw materials for manufacturing tools were siliceous rock, jasper, chalcedony, quartzite, and sometimes rock crystal, outcrops found in the Delbegetey mountains 80 km southeast of the site. Small particles predominate in the upper layers, larger and coarser formations in the organs. The depth of the walker varies from 0.2 to 0.8 m.

Judging by the geological and geomorphological situation and the construction of stone products, the site dates back to the rise of the Paleolithic.
