Exploration work on the Tobol
The Tobolsk detachment of the expedition of the Kostanay Pedagogical Institute conducted reconnaissance along the right bank of the Tobol (height 6 m). Five new monuments have been discovered.
The Dzhangildy I settlement was located near the northwestern outskirts of the A.T. Dzhangildy state farm central estate, on the right bank of the Tobol. The following stratigraphy was revealed during cleaning of the coastal cliff: at the top, a layer of sod (up to 10 cm); below - cultural layer in dark gray sandy loam (20-80 cm). The area of the preserved part of the settlement is about 6500 sq. The remains of two dwelling depressions about 20 m wide have been recorded. The Dzhangildy II settlement is located on the same bank of the river, 5 km northwest of the Starye Dzhangildy settlement. The finds are spread over 80 X 80 m below it is a cultural layer in dark gray sandy loam (up to 50 cm); Below is yellow sand, where two dwelling depressions with a diameter of 45-50 m were found.
The Lugovoe settlement is located 2 km northwest of the Lugovoe village. Its area is about 500 sq. m. Pit showed the following stratigraphy: at the top - a layer of turf (up to 10 cm); below, a layer of dark gray sandy loam with cultural remains (25–35 cm); beneath it is yellow sand. Four dwelling depressions 25–30 m in diameter have been recorded in Alkau. The following stratigraphy was revealed during cleaning of the coastal cliff: at the top, a layer of sod (up to 10 cm); under it - a dark gray cultural layer (20 - 60 cm); below - light brown clay. Six dwelling depressions with a diameter of about 40 m were recorded. Ceramics typical of the Late Bronze Age of the Tobol basin were found at all the sites listed above and at the Alkau I settlement and ceramics of the Petrovka type.
The Neolithic site Alkau II (500 sq.m.) is located on the right bank of the Tobol, 1.5 km south of Alkau village. Stratigraphy: top - sod layer (10 cm); below it is a layer of dark gray sandy loam, including finds (20-40 cm); below - dark yellow sand. The finds are represented by a core, flakes, scrapers on flakes, plates and tools from them, fragments of pottery ornamented with impressions of a jagged stamp.
