Research in Dzhetyasar tract
The Khorezm expedition of the Institute of Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR continued to work in the piss of the Syr Darya, in the Dzhetyasar tract. The settlement of Dzhetyasar 2 was explored. On the southern, eastern and western sections of the main site, the premises of the four upper construction periods have been almost completely uncovered, and excavations have begun on vaulted premises, probably on the second floor of a building belonging to the earliest construction period. On the western section of the terrace, it was found that the building, which had “more than two floors, covered with arches of rooms with a highly peculiar layout and fortification, was erected on the mainland. All the premises of the four upper horizons were not only repeatedly rebuilt, but for the most part, were tightly packed, sometimes to the entire remaining height of the walls (up to 3 m). Among the finds are many animal and fish bones, fragments of pottery, stone products, polished bone arrowheads, and beads. In addition, the study of other monuments of the tract and, first of all, neighboring settlements, belonging to the same early stage (Dzhety-asar 1) as the settlement of Dzhety-asar 2, continued.
