Archaeological research on the territory of Almaty city and Almaty region in 2021

Works on revealing of new monuments of archaeology, inspection of known monuments for definition of a degree of safety on the territory of Almaty were carried out. As a result, about 70 archaeological sites were identified, some of which require active measures for their preservation by the city Akimat, scientific organizations and the public. A series of ancient settlements and burial complexes in the estuaries of mountain gorges and on the foothill plain are among the most interesting results of research. Reconnaissance of archaeological monuments in the mountains Arkharly, revealed more than 200 monuments of historical and cultural heritage, of which the most significant are the clusters of petroglyphs, which are marked by signs of open-air sanctuaries, and the content are the masterpieces of ancient and medieval work rock art. In addition, about 40 sites and settlements and more than 120 burial grounds from the Bronze Age to the Modern Age have been documented here.
