Ceramic products found in Merke settlement
In 2006-2007, the expedition of the A.H.Margulan Institute of Archaeology (headed by A.Nurzhanov) conducted excavations in the city of Merkе. During the excavations, the remains of two large courtyard residential buildings built in the 1st quarter of the 19th century were uncovered from a 31×31.5 m work-out adjacent to the northern wall of the citadel, and places for six rooms were determined. During archaeological excavations in the medieval city of Merke in 2006, the remains of two large courtyard residential buildings built in the first quarter of the XIX century were uncovered near the northern wall from a 50×50 m area. It turned out that a brick, iron axe with an Arabic inscription found during the excavations dates back to the XIX century. During the 2007 excavations carried out in the central-western part of the medieval city of Merke, jugs, Hums, vessels and other products were opened from the excavations, during the analysis of the ceramic materials found, it was found that they were characteristic of the X–XII centuries. And the ceramic products found in the 6th and 9th cultural layers of the excavations are characteristic of the IX-X centuries. There are many jugs, cups, humshi, humshi and other ceramic tablecloths, cauldrons, Kazan lids in the bowl.
