Otpantau, the mountain

There is Tuschibek village 6 km southeast of the mountain (Mangystau district, Mangystau region). It is the highest point (532 m) in the West Karatau highlands.

In Kazakh, "Otpan" means fire. There are folk tales telling about the fact that a guard tower was built on the mountain in time immemorial, on which a beacon was set at the time of danger. Only the remains of a large ruined building made of local stone have survived to this day. Many of the stones in the collapse of the walls have traces of thermal impact. In addition, there are fragments of sandstone with traces of melting and boiling of the surface. Archaeological studies of the site have not yet been carried out.

In 2007, the historical and cultural complex "Otpan Tau" dedicated to the legendary ancestor of the family of local Kazakhs - Adai, about which many legends have been built, was solemnly opened at the top of the mountain. A stylized kumbez tam (mausoleum) in the form of a high tower with a gilded dome and two steles-minarets were erected on the mountain. In the tower there is a symbolic grave of Adai ata, and the steles represent two fatherly wings - the sons of Kudaike and Kelimberdy. A 360-step trail leads to the monuments from the base of the top. In immediate proximity to the memorial there is a wolf sculpture, which is a symbol of freedom and strength of spirit of Turkic peoples.

The complex is complemented by a monument with a torch bowl, in which a sacred fire is lit every year on the Amal holiday, symbolizing the unity of the three zhuzes - the Elder, the Middle and the Junior. For the past 10 years, the ceremony of lighting the fire of unity (Birlik oty) has been held. Residents of Mangystau from March 13 to 14 celebrate the beginning of the month of Nauryz and call it "Amal Merekesi". In the morning, a prayer in honor of the spirit of the descendants of the Adai ata is read.

At the foot of the mountain was built Aksaray - a two-storey building, reminiscent of a large yurt and a helmet Batyr. The octagonality of the building symbolizes the infinity of the universe. This number is sacred for the Turkic-speaking peoples. Aksaray symbolizes spiritual wealth and age-old wisdom. In due course here historical-cultural and spiritual values of a sort of Aday will be concentrated. In Aksaray there are: museum, library, conference hall for various meetings and round tables.

In the neighborhood of Aksaray there is a 15-meter high monument of Mother - the cradle and the founder of life, the keeper of the hearth. The image of Mother is complemented by the images of the Moon - a symbol of the face, the Sun - a symbol of the heart and two birds, embodying the son and daughter, to whom the mother conveys the best human qualities - freedom, unity, brotherhood.

At the solemn opening of the complex on October 25, 2007 the congratulatory telegram of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the residents of the region was read out. It says that "the Otpan Tau complex is the fruit of the independence of our state, the embodiment of respect for the past and responsibility to the future. The new complex returns in our memory the historical past of the people, ignites spirituality in our hearts and calls for great deeds.

The object of natural and historical-cultural significance.
