Description
The second half of the XIX century. Mausoleum of Kyztamy (Maiden's grave) is located on the territory of the Muslim cemetery, located on the northern outskirts of the village of Yekidin, on the territory subordinated to the maslikhat of Arkalyk (Kostanay region).
According to legend, this is the grave of a beautiful girl who was famous for her wisdom and eloquence. It is said that once she managed to stop the battle of two warring clans and to reconcile her tribesmen. Her name was Batima. When Batima was married to the son of a rich and famous bi, she died suddenly. By custom, her father decided to marry her younger sister instead of Batima. In memory of her elder sister, the younger one asked to erect a beautiful big mausoleum over the deceased's grave and to gather everyone (even her enemies) for the memorial dinner. And also bequeathed to bury when her time came, in the same mausoleum.
The mausoleum is made of baked bricks and has a portal-dome construction of a sub-square shape. Dimensions of the foundation are 6.5×6.5 m, height of the walls is 4.5 m, height of the dome is 2 m, diameter is 4 m. The facade and adjacent side walls are framed on three sides by a square slab belt with a tile.
The large and beautiful mausoleum still attracts people's eyes. And the touching history of its creation is carefully kept in the memory of the people.
It is a monument of architecture and history of local importance.
The object of pilgrimage and religious tourism.
