Description
The church was built in 1891-1907. The author of the cathedral project is a famous Russian architect from St. Petersburg V.N. Chagin. The cathedral is seven-domed, which is surrounded by eight bastions. Captured cannons were installed on the bastions. The laying of the cathedral took place on July 31, 1891 in the presence of the heir to the throne of the Russian Empire, the future Emperor Nicholas II.
During the Soviet period, the Local History Museum and the Museum of Atheism were located in the сathedral. In 1990, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior was returned to the parishioners. This architectural structure is one of the beautiful buildings of the city of the late 19th – early 20th centuries, and the Urals rightfully call it “Golden”.
Currently, all restoration work on the cathedral has been completed. During this time, the work on the complete painting of the cathedral was completed. A carved iconostasis with kiots was made and gilded, a new set of bells was purchased, the roof was replaced and new gilded domes with crosses were installed, an iron wrought-iron fence was installed and paving stones were laid around the cathedral. A large gilded bell named Svyatoslav was made in Moscow at the expense of entrepreneur Valery Surkov.
