Description

Located along the highway Arkalyk - Amangeldy on the elevated bank of the river Karynsaldy, 10 km from the village of Amantogai (Amangeldy district, Kostanay region).

Kutan Atalykuly (1690-1780) was born in Ulytau. It originates from the family of Nayman. With his aul he wandered in the steppes of Torgay. Since childhood he had the ability to foresee, he was known as a healer, and was recognized as a saint even in his lifetime. All his life he devoted to the treatment of patients, the people considered him a particularly gifted man, distinguished by wisdom, intelligence and insight.

There is a legend that before his death he bequeathed that his body was loaded on a camel and where the animal stops, to betray him to the ground. The relatives fulfilled the last will of the deceased. The camel headed for the hills of the eastern bank of the river Karynsaldy. The caravan walked along the steppe for a long time until the camel knelt to the ground and stopped. There the remains were buried. Now on this place there is a mausoleum of the saint.

People continue to believe in its unusual supernatural power, which has survived even after death. Pilgrims spend the night in a small mazar, built on the cemetery to make a prayer addressed to the saint.

The pilgrims from among those who suffer in the hope of getting rid of the disease reach the burial place of Kutan aulie. Not far from the mausoleum there is a healing spring, next to which there is a small hotel complex, where travelers can stay for the night.

The mausoleum has been reconstructed several times. The descendants of the saint on the site of the tombstone built a brick mazar in 1977. The mausoleum acquired its current appearance in 2008.
