Description
It is located in the area of Kulshinbai-Tobe, 2.5 km southeast of the village of Karasai Batyr (Aiyrtau district, North Kazakhstan region).
Kazakh batyrs Agyntai and Karasai, in whose honor the memorial complex was erected, are one of the faithful comrades-in-arms of Esim khan and Zhangir khan in the battles against Dzungars. During more than 40 years Batyrs took part in almost 200 battles. One of the outstanding feats of the Batyrs was the liberation of Zhangir Khan from the Dzungarian captivity. Another important event was participation of Agyntai and Karasai Batyrs in the significant for the history of the Kazakh khanate - the Battle of Orbulak under the direct guidance of Zhangir khan. Later the word "Karasai" became a fighting cry for the family of Shapyrashty of the Elder Zhuz. In last fight Batyrs participated already in old age when they were 66 and 65 years old.
In the central part of the complex there are two majestic mausoleums, built on the example of Kazakh dome funeral structures of the Middle Ages. The interior of the mausoleums continues the tradition of the Turkic funeral rite. Kulpytas and shyrak are installed in the front part of the tombstones. The height of the mausoleums is 16 m. In front of the mausoleums there is a mosque that symbolically unites them. In general, the entire complex is oriented along the main axis of SW-NE. The authors of the architectural construction are B. Ibraev and S. Agitaev.
The memorial complex is surrounded by a fence in the form of arches. The entrance part of the complex is located in the south-western sector and is marked by structures decorated in the form of small towers. At the entrance to the complex there are crossed spears on granite bases, symbolizing military valor and bravery.
In addition to the memorial complex, a bronze sculpture monument to the legendary heroes was erected in 1999 in Petropavlovsk on the Theatre Square. The memorial complex symbolizes the friendship of the Batyrs and the unity of the people. Currently, the Karasai and Agyntai Batyrs Memorial Complex is a place of pilgrimage and tourism, a monument of urban planning and architecture. In 2000 it was included in the list of historical and cultural monuments of national importance.
