Description
Karabura aulie was a well-known clergyman from the family of Tama Junior Zhuz and associate of the legendary Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, who asked to be buried by Karabura before his death. He lived in the foothills of Karatau, possessed magical powers, could stop the fastest stallion at one glance and make the river turn back.
Before the death, Khoja Ahmed Yasawi asked Karabura to perform all the rituals of the deceased, i.e. to perform ablutions, to read "Zhanaza". The mentor asked his relatives and other students not to touch his body after death. "A man will come on a black camel, and he will perform all the rituals that suppose", - the elders say that this was the last request of the great Ahmed. There were various legends about Karabura among the people, as if the saint was flying on a black camel. Each legend has a historical basis, because "Karabura" in translation means "Black Camel". Karabura was the standard of justice, decency, courage. In the old days, thieves, liars were forced to break a branch from a tree that grows over the tomb of the saint; the guilty person could be paralyzed, the innocent remained in good health. Until now, people go to the saint in case of family troubles, problems, controversial, insoluble issues and just pray to the great ancestor, near which buried khans, batyrs and other great ancestors.
Karabura Mausoleum was built in 1997 in white brick and consists of two rooms. The top is dome. The first room has an area of 100 m2, the second - the place of the old mausoleum, built in the XV century. The mausoleum is made of clay and has four windows. Here is the grave of Kurban ata. Behind the old mausoleum are buried Aknazar Khan, Belgibai Kazhy, Shilmembet Bi, Kultas Bi, Kozhamkul Gulama, Daulet Karabura Batyr, Shahasum Ahun and others. The door faces west to the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The total area of the monument is 240 m2, the height of the mausoleum is 17 m.
The mausoleum of Karabura is from the list of monuments of history and culture of local importance. The object of pilgrimage and religious tourism.
