Description
It is believed that the bathhouse was built at the expense of the first patron of the arts – a resident of Aulie-Ata Kali-Yunus Mayusupov. According to legend, Kali-Yunus Mayusupov was one of the merchants-patrons of ancient Taraz, who became famous for his decency, generosity and modesty.
Having heard about the miracles created by the hands of Bukhara masters, he wished to build the same bathhouse in his city. During the construction of the bathhouse, the principles of architectural composition and the heating system of the eastern medieval baths were used. The interior of the bathhouse is decorated with frescoes. The ornament of the painting is geometric. The bath consisted of five rooms, was built in the form of a multi-dome building. The walls are made of burnt bricks. The sauna consists of an entrance hall, lobby, a relaxation room, massage rooms, a heating room and three bathrooms, there are large tanks for storing cold and hot water, heating water, a well is located in the courtyard. Ventilation and lighting are carried out through openings and niches located parallel to each other between the walls in the dome. The total area of the structure is 450 sq. m. The height of the walls is 3 m., the thickness is 0.8 m. At the same time, the height of some rooms up to the domes is about 5-6 m.
The building was first restored in 1986. In 2001 the specialists of the Zhambyl “Kazrestavratsiya” restored the building in honor of the anniversary of Taraz. The domes of the building have been completely restored.
