Description

Estay Berkimbayev (1868-1946) was an outstanding composer, Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1939), singer, actor and improviser, one of the first members of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan (1939). His name is inscribed in golden letters in the history of Kazakh musical culture. His songs “Sandugash”, “Yuran”, “Dunie-ai”, “Zhai konyr”, “Naz konyr’, “Mayda konyr”, “Erkem" and others are distinguished by the richness of intonation colors. But the peak of his musical talent is considered to be the work “Korlan”, with which one story is connected. In his youth, akyn Estay saw the sixteen-year-old beauty Korlan and lost peace and sleep. The girl also liked the desperate young man. They fell in love with each other, but they were not destined to be together. Corlan, the daughter of a rich, powerful man, was married to another, and she could not contradict her father's will. Estai decided to steal his beloved, but the girl's relatives found out about it, and their dream of being together collapsed. Korlan and Estai have parted forever. The young man still has a silver ring that Corlan gave him in memory of their love.

Akyn Estai carried his love for Korlan through his whole life, and he did not part with the ring until the end of his days. A monument is erected on the grave of the national composer, which is a domed brick structure. The contrast of the colors of white and yellow bricks enhances the architectonics of the building, directed by a faceted dome to the sky. The openwork brickwork favorably highlights the decorative component of the monument. On the front face of the mausoleum, a bas-relief image of the famous akyn is placed in a niche, and below is an epitaph and an image of a lyre, dombra and ornamental motif.
