Description

It is located 28 km north-east of Akkiiztogay village, 70 km east of Kulsary settlement (Atyrau region).

Memorial-cult complex "Akmechet" unites a new mosque building, necropolis and living quarters for the rest of pilgrims and family keeper, which is now known in Atyrau - Islam Koskulaktegi Myrzabekov, the author of several books about the life and work of Beket-ata. The mosque was built on the site of an old mosque and a grave, where the father, mother and son Beket-ata aulie are buried.

According to the legend, the old mosque was erected near the burial place of Beket-ata's parents underground, obviously using chalk limestone, which stood out in the surrounding steppe with its white color, hence the name "Akmeshit". The modern building of the mosque was built in 1998 and as it were consists of two separate premises in the form of mausoleums. They have an octagonal layout, are deepened in the ground and connected by a small corridor. The long axis of the building is oriented in the direction of the NNE-SSW. These two parts of the mosque have the same design - the octagonal wall supports a cone-shaped tent, on a truncated top of which there is a low cylindrical drum, completed by a hemispherical dome. Lighting of premises is made at the expense of eight windows punched on a cylindrical drum. The entrance to the mosque from the NNE side is decorated in the form of a peshtak mausoleum, then there is a small staircase to the first room - dariskhana, in which there is an iron box for donations. Then through the small corridor there is a staircase to the main premise of the mosque. Here instead of a mihrab there is a throne carved of stone with wooden and metal staffs on both sides, the latter is an exact copy of the staff of Beket-ata - "kok asa", which is now stored in the village of Zhirenkopa (Khobda district, Aktobe region). There is also a burial place and an underground cell of Beket-ata's nephew, Kulshan-ata, near the "Akmeshit" complex.

For pilgrims the local administration has created ideal conditions - a grader road is laid, electricity, telephone, gas pipeline, air conditioners are installed in the recreation rooms, which, in our opinion, unnecessarily modifies, facilitates and formalizes the ancient ritual of worship of the saints-aulie.
