Description

In the 19-20 cc., the construction of mosques was entrusted only to those people who received special education in madrassas. One of them was Abdullah-ishan Saidi (1836-1914), who, having been educated in Bukhara, was a recognized as an expert on the Muslim faith. He wrote poetry in Arabic and Farsi.

This mosque is also called the Ush-Aral Mosque-madrasah, its architect is considered to be the people's master Islam. The building itself measures 12.5 × 10.2 m in plan, height of the walls is 3.5 m. The main room is crowned with a dome on a drum with a diameter of 8 m. 15 small domes overlap other rooms and aivan on three sides, which are supported by equal arches. Above the entrance there is an excerpt from the Koran, made in blue ganch on white plaster. In the south-western wall of the hall there is a mihrab niche in a P-shaped frame with an epigraphic cartouche containing theological maxims. In 1982, the Abdullah Ishan Mosque was included in the list of historical and cultural monuments of the Kazakh SSR of republican significance and taken under state protection.
