Description
The current Russian theater originates in the distant 1902. Then it was called the People's House. Its opening took place on October 26, 1902 and was located in the former building of the East Kazakhstan Regional Drama Theater named after Zhambyl.
In February 2000, a Kazakh troupe was created on the basis of the East Kazakhstan Regional Drama Theater named after Zhambyl. In 2012, the construction of a new building of the East Kazakhstan Regional Drama Theater named after Zhambyl began in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Initially it was assumed that only the Kazakh Drama Theater would be located there, but later it was decided that the building would be shared by two troupes – Russian and Kazakh. On April 7, 2015, the building of the East Kazakhstan Regional Drama Theater was inaugurated by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The theater is designed for 600 seats, there are rehearsal halls, a small auditorium, There are cozy makeup rooms, gym, ballet and music halls in new building. The directors and actors have excellent lighting, stage and music equipment at their disposal, as well as a recording studio.
