Description
Omar and Tur mausoleum, identified and briefly described in 1946 by Basenov T.K., is one of the best works of folk masters Duyisen, Omirap and Ordabai Karazhusupov. It is located in the north-western part of Ustyurt, 18 km north of the village of Old Beineu.
The mausoleum is rectangular in plan (5,7x6,2 m), has a height of 8.2 m. thanks to the successful choice of sizes, the impression of the aspiration of the volume of the monument to the top is created. All facades are surprisingly proportionally divided into large pylons, two-tiered vertical blades and horizontal niches. The interior is also solved. In this monument, the traditional partitioning of the walls is particularly expressive and relief, creates a play of light in the shadows. The spheroconic dome, resting on a massive cylindrical drum with four decorative portals, is topped with a decorative spire.
The decorative design of the interior basically reproduces the interior of the yurt. Despite some diversity of ornamental patterns, they differ in geometric clarity of drawings and harmonious coloristic solution. The highly artistic appearance of this large architectural structure makes it possible to attribute it to the masterpieces of folk architecture not only in this region, but also in Kazakhstan as a whole.
