Description

The Tanirkazgan site was discovered by an archaeological detachment led by Kh.A. Alpysbayev in 1968, which was located on a flat hill composed of sandstones, dolomites and siltstones. Tanirkazgan dates back to the pre-mining time, and experts divide their inventory into four groups: bilateral and unilateral chopping tools, choppers, archaic massive flakes, large nodules and nucleus.

In 2000, the site was re-examined by specialists of the A.Kh. Margulan Institute of Archaeology under the leadership of K.M. Baypakov. The distribution of tools in site is clearly limited, beyond a certain boundary, processed flint products are rare. The site is no more than 1 sq.km. A large number of artifacts were found in the low-power upper layer of gray loam.

The inhabitants of the Tanirkazgan site used black and dark gray silicon of the carbon layer as a raw material. Typologically, the stone products have analogies among the oldest sites of Eurasia and Africa, among the tools of the Olduvai culture.

Unfortunately, it is the Paleolithic of Kazakhstan that is still poorly studied, isolated sites like the Tanirkazgan site do not allow for a full-fledged reconstruction of the life and everyday life of the oldest Paleolithic communities on the territory of Kazakhstan. Tanirkazgan site is one of the oldest on the territory of Kazakhstan.
