Description

The burial place of Batyrs of the XVIII century. It is located in the south of Kamysty district of Kostanay region and stretches to the borders with Aktobe region.

The area is closely connected with the events that have been postponed in the national history as "Years of the Great Disaster". Legends tell that part of Kazakhs who left the invaded dzungars in 1723 settled in the southern and northern parts of modern Torgay and in the Southern Urals. A large number of Kazakhs gathered in this area and decided to fight back the enemy attack.

Representatives of the Oshakty tribe Sauyryk Batyr and Zhagalbayly Taylak Batyr called on the people to unite, take up arms and free the land of their ancestors from enemy invasion. Two mighty Batyrs gave the dzungars the first battle in the Karasiyr valley, 50-60 km long. It was one of the victories in the battle against dzungars.

Sauyryk and Taylak also took part in historical battles near the Bulanty River and in the Battle of Anyrakai.

There is a legend that there was a pantheon of Karatobe, where Batyrs and Sultans who fought in the area of Karasiyr are buried. As early as 1960-1970s there were about 50 gravestones in Karatobe pantheon. Today none of them has survived.
