Research of the Taldy Detachment
The detachment of the Karaganda University continued research in the Taldy district of the Karaganda region.
In the Enbek-Suygush burial ground, located on the territory of "Kirgiziya" state farm (Kent branch), on the right bank of the Kyzylkent River, eight enclosures of the Andronovo period were excavated, subrectangular and round in plan, with dimensions of 2.0-3.6 x 1.7-3.7 m. 10 burials were found in stone cistes, oriented from the southwest to the northeast. Eight graves were robbed, in two graves crouched skeletons without skulls lay on their left side. Two whole vessels, fragments of ceramics, bronze beads were found. The jars and pot-shaped vessels are ornamented with grooves, flutes, hatched triangles, and zigzags. A part of the Begazy-Dandybai burial ground was also investigated, including two burials in stone cists, one ground burial, three altars, and a stone mausoleum. The mausoleum plan consists of three squares inscribed into each other (the dimensions of the outer one are about 8x8 m) with walls made of stone slabs laid in mortar and a stone cist in the inner square. Fragments of ceramics were found in the ditches surrounding the mausoleum.
The Late Bronze Age Dongal settlement occupies a plot (2500 sq. m.) of the left bank of the Kyzylkent River, 1.5 km from the Kent village. On its surface, 20 rounded depressions 14-15x5-10 m in size were noted. The remains of three dwellings were excavated, located at a distance of 0.5-0.7 m from one another. They are rectangular in plan, with an area of about 70-100 square meters and a depth in the mainland of 0.3-0.4 m. G-shaped entrances-tambours were fenced with slabs. The walls, 1.5–1.7 m wide, are made of stones, backfilled with smaller stones and ash, and lined with vertically placed slabs on the inside. The dwellings had hearths in pits lined with slabs household and post pits. The finds include a fragment of a stone arrowhead, stone pestles, hoes, disks, burnishers, legs from two altars, bone rattles and piercers, and a bronze rivet. The site's ceramics are typologically similar to the pottery from the Alekseev and Sargary settlements.
At 20 km from the central estate of the Frunze state farm, in the area of Daukara, a ritual complex of the Turkic period, consisting of two stone cistes, was investigated. In the center of the boxes, pillar pits and depressions were cleared, in which coals and ash were found. A "stone woman" was dug in next to the boxes.
