Bowl with underglaze painting from Otrar (excavated in 2018)
In 2018, the study of the settlement of Otrar, which began in 2015, was continued under the project "Archaeological study of the settlement of Otrar" (K.M. Baypakov). A.K. Avizova, I.R.Kamaldinov, N.O. Seraly, A.A. Seraliev took part in the study of the monument. The stratigraphic excavation with an area of 500 sq.m was brought to a depth of 6.5 m, to the level of the cultural layer of the X-XI centuries. A bird bowl (steppe eagle) with underglaze painting and epigraphic decor was found in a stratigraphic excavation in the shakhristan’s northern part of the medieval city-site Otrar. The bowl was found in the layer of the 10th–11th centuries; refers to the Karakhanid period.
